The park is home to 46 species of tree, including some very impressive mature specimens. A list of tree species in the park can be found here treesspecies2011.
Greville Smyth Park is home to a wide range of wildlife and provides a green link between Ashton Court, the New Cut and the Avon Gorge and Bedminster. The park’s trees provide a natural habitat for a range of bird species and FroGS has supported the placement of a number of bat and bird boxes in the park’s trees.
In 2008, FroGS with the help of local school children created a wildflower meadow along the eastern boundary of the park (next to Ashton Road). It is hoped that this meadow will become established over time adding the biodiversity of the park.
